Stephen Blewett is one of Africa’s most decorated telecommunications executives. Currently CEO of MTN Ghana, he has led the company to become Ghana’s leading digital provider - and in 2026, guided MTN Ghana to victory in the prestigious MTN Group Million Dollar Challenge.
His career spans nearly three decades and five African markets. As CEO of MTN Benin (2015–2020), he delivered double-digit revenue growth for three straight years, resolved a high-stakes government regulatory dispute, and was recognised as both Best CEO in Benin (2019) and Best CEO across all MTN Group subsidiaries (2020). At MTN Cameroon (2020–2024), he continued expanding operations in one of the group’s most significant markets.
Prior to MTN, Stephen held senior leadership roles including Chief Operating Officer at Digicel, overseeing operations across the Caribbean and Central America, and CEO of Altech Autopage Cellular in South Africa - experience that gave him an early, formative grounding in multi-market operational leadership.
Alongside his executive career, Stephen is a published author and Brown University-certified leadership coach. His books - The 3D View and Beyond the Line - bring together his thinking on personal success, purpose, and active leadership. He holds a degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, and Marketing from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
As a coach, Stephen works with CEOs and senior leaders who want to operate at their highest level. He brings the same directness, strategic discipline, and results orientation that defined his executive career - and a genuine commitment to the growth of the leaders he works with.
He is currently Chair of the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications (2025/2026) and holds board positions across African telecommunications, FinTech, and mobile money sectors.
